Eoin Morgan praises 'outstanding' England bowlers after New Zealand win

Bangladesh and New Zealand head into their final group match of this year's Champions Trophy desperate for victory but knowing even a win in Cardiff Friday may not take either of them into the semifinals.

Victory saw England, who beat Bangladesh by eight wickets at the Oval in their Group A opener, into the last four of a tournament featuring the world's top eight one-day global (ODI) teams regardless of the result of their last pool fixture against archrivals Australia at Edgbaston on Saturday last week.

England put on a superb all-round showing to easily account for New Zealand and advance into the final four of the Champions Trophy in top spot in Group A courtesy of an 87-run win in Cardiff.

But fast bowler Wood made the key breakthrough to dismiss the star batsman.

Morgans men are through to the Champions Trophy semi-finals following their victory over New Zealand, but the same can not be said for the Aussies, who will be out of the tournament should England win. "Obviously he can do his thing and he's one of the best players in the world but, if he has that day when he does fail, then we've got to make sure we stand up as a team and try and get around him". If Australia lose to England on Saturday, the victor of this game will qualify for the semi-finals.

Williamson's exit sparked a collapse that saw New Zealand lose their last eight wickets for 65 runs on the way to a total of 223 all out. They always are favourites going into a white ball tournament.

New Zealand were unchanged from the side that played in a frustrating no result washout against Australia in their first group match.

New Zealand lost their first wicket just four balls into their innings when Luke Ronchi was clean bowled for a golden duck by Ball.

"I think maybe in the India and West Indies series I was short of runs", he said.

"I thought we were probably 10 or 15 below par - given that 320 is probably a par score regardless of the game we're playing in these days".

He agrees their tournament is going very well so far, but added: 'If you had asked me that at the halfway stage, I probably would have said it wasn't. We never take any opposition for granted. "They seem to produce limited-overs cricketers at will", the former Ireland worldwide added.

"We all know the importance of getting wickets early in the innings and putting the team under pressure", he said.

"England bowled very, very well", he said.
